Perdu en Chine~if you don't like it, don't read it~ 10 June new blog~Not sure there are still some people coming here to check this blog, but for those who are lost here, you have to know that i have a new english blog now. As i have changed of MSN some months ago, i can't access this blog. If you want to see the new one, go to check there :
have fun~ 07 November What's up ?It's been a long time i didn't write something in this shitty blog
I will probably close it soon, not sure i will make a new one. Anyway i wll see
My mum will come to visit me in China soon, as i won't go back to france before a couple of years, it will be good to see her here. There are so many things to show, Guangzhou is much more interesting to show than Shanghai. And the weather is just perfect now (yeah finally i can enjoy the weather). Arround 20degrees, sunny, fresh the morning, warm the afternoon, if only it could be always like that.
YO
24 September Rest in PeaceIt's a bit hard for me now to write something in my blog. For several reasons. First, because i am much more busier that before, which is a good news. Secondly, because i don't know what to talk about, no special mood to write something. And also because a tragical thing happened recently. I won't give too much details, but it's just to say that my gf's mother passed away recently, and tragically. For people who never lost a very close person, they can't really understand. But i wish, none of my friends can understand. It's too hard to live, we can't imagine how hard is it, until it happens to us. I lost my father few years ago, tragically, too, and to see that it is happening again, but to my gf, is a very hard feeling. It was the last thing i wanted it happen to her, or anyone of you. Many things will change now, it will be a kind of new life for her, as it was a kind of new life for me when i lost my father. Just one last thing, never forget to say how much you love your parents, your relative, your friends, because it costs nothing to say it, but when one of them disappears, you always regret that you didn't say enough how much you loved this person when he or she was here. 28 August The link of the day #01Great food delivery service, in Guangzhou : I was waiting for this kind of service for a long time. I know they have similar services in Shanghai, but it's the first time i see that in Guangzhou. It's not a restaurant, they just deliver food, from 14 different restaurants (chinese, italian, turkish, japanese restaurants...). We can simply order by phone, by their website or even by MSN. In chinese or in english. They just charge 8yuan for the delivery. A really good service that i recommand ;) 27 August You know you have been in China too long when...- you forget what clean air smells like. (funny article we can find in many foreigner blogs or BBS in china) Interesting facts #2When i write the article about rudness and politeness, i knew that some chinese will disagree. But i didn't know it will make them angry, and so narrow minded. This is about my blog, my opinions, i can be wrong sometimes (yes i even can admit i can be wrong, which they NEVER admit), but it's still my blog and if i want to write about something i don't like, in china or wherever, it's my right. I saw tons of blog of chinese talking about their trip to france or europe and telling lots of bad things too about others countries. So what ? We all have different feelings, opinions, i won't mind if you say bad things about french or whatever. Some facts : (take it easy, it's also for fun) - never say anything bad about china. You can't understand you are not chinese (who said we need to be chinese to understand something ?) - Chinese think they are well-educated and all the bad chinese come from other provinces. If there is something wrong with a chinese, it's for sure, a non-shanghanese - if you don't like something here, go back to your country. You must love everything in china to be able to stay here. We won't accept any critic, especially from a laowai Am i right ? Anyway, agree or not, it's not my problem, you have to understand that people have different opinions, and we are not all the same. If you don't understand that and don't accept it, don't read my blog and everything will be fine ^^ PS : all anonymous comments will be deleted. I don't give any credits to anonymous comments because they only show that the person is not brave enough to write what he thinks under his own name. 26 August Politeness and rudeness in ChinaI won't surprise anyone if i say that chinese are impolite and rude. If for western people, chinese seems rude, there is several reasons. Actually each countries have a different level of politeness and good manners. In a recent and serious survey, about which cities have the rudest people, in the top list we could find Taipei, seoul and Hong-Kong. Few days ago, i wanted to wish an happy birthday to a friend, by MSN. She was on busy mode, so i just send a very short message. It reminds me another story, of a french guy in Beijing, during a heavy rainy day. He was waiting for a taxi and when a taxi arrived, a girl was leaving the taxi and he was holding the door for her and even put his umbrella above her to help and protect her from the rain. She didn't say anything, didn't look at him, just ignored him. I can't say all chinese are unpolite and have the worst manners on earth, it's totally untrue of course. But the numbers doesn't help. Millions of people everywhere, people don't have time to say "sorry, thanks, my pleasure", to keep doors opened for others, to be gentle, to care about others, to help others. That's why the most friendly people are always in smaller cities. The smallest the city is, the more friendly people are. When my friend went to Paris few months ago, she was very surprised. She told me she loved the place, people were very nice to her. They were smiling to her and stopped their cars in order to let her cross the road. When she ask her way to some french men, they were helping her and accompagned her to the right place, all the time in a friendly way. But of course, there are always some exceptions, which show that people are different, and have different manners. 2 years ago when i was in shanghai, i had to go to a company for an interview. I had the address but i couldn't find the building, it was not easy to find it. So i asked some people arround. A girl, who didn't speak a word of english, took my paper, and tried to find the place for me. She asked a guard, and went with me to show me where was the entrance. Wow i was really surprised and happy, at this time i wish i could speak chinese, just to thanks her and maybe treat her a drink or something. 02 August Interesting...When i have posted my article last time, it was just to talk about how fast my life changed in a so short time in China.
It was just a flashback, to remind me what happened in the beginning, why i am in china and what brought me in Guangzhou. I wrote almost the same article in my french blog (with a bit more details and in a funny way).
The people's reactions were totally different from one blog to the other.
When french people (guys and girls) just congrat me for my 2years here (don't forget that the main purpose of this article was to talk about my 2years in china), ask me about my experience here, how "brave" i was, and so on.
It was mainly about my choices, the so-called "career", the incredible trip and the decisions i made. In my english blog, most readers are chinese girls (it seems), and most of them ONLY saw a so-called "romantic story". Amazing how the same article can bring 2 different comments.
Actually, i have never thought about the love when i have wrote this. Of course it was a big part of my decision but not the purpose of my article. Actualy when you read it, i don't say much about love, but i am still surprised that these chinese girls think it was romantic or whatever. I think chinese girls can't really understand the difficulties of leaving a country to go to another one and try to start a new life. Most of them are living with their parents and will only move when they will get married. But it seems, when a guy do "so much" for his girl, it sounds romantic. But for us, western people, it's not a big deal, it sounds very normal. I don't say all people can do that, but i have explained that i had nothing to lose, i didn't have job, so it was an easy decision to decide to follow my gf in her hometown. If at this time i had a job in Shanghai, it will be probably very different. Now some people asked me to write more about it...they want to know more about my love story. But i have never wrote anything about love story, i've just talked about my early experience in china. So, sorry to disappoint some of you but i won't write more about it. Because my "love story" is so ordinary, there is absolutly nothing special to write about. 17 July ~2 YEARS~It's been exactly 2 years that i am living in China now.
I left france on july17 2004, with nothing with me. Few money, no job, just some hopes and wishes. I arrived in Shanghai and stayed almost 2months. I wanted to live there, but after 5 or 6 very weird and special interviews, it started to be hard for me (less and less money). But i still wanted to do my best to find a job, coz i really felt in love with China. In the end of august, i finally met Winnie, who were an old netfriend of mine. I totally felt in love, and we spent 10days living together in Shanghai like an old couple.
When she left to go back to her hometown, Guangzhou, i couldn't feel as happy as before in Shanghai. Lonely, terribly lonely, even if i have great friends there, i took the decision to go to try to find a job in Guangzhou. I didn't know the city but i had nothing to lose anyway. She was there, i was missing her too much, it was the best choice to do. 3 days after i arrived in Guangzhou, i found my first job. I stayed 3months then left it. I went to HK to renew my visa and to buy a laptop. Since this time, i am working as a freelancer.
to be continued... ;)
![]() 13 June BonjourCANTONLong time i didn't update my english blog.
The reason, i am very busy, which is a great thing for me. The other reason, i now prefer to update my french blog :P
For the news, and for the french speaking people who will pass by this crappy blog, i have created a BBS (forum) for the french community in CANTON (the province), called BONJOUR-CANTON
If you are french and you need some information about Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and so on, feel free to visit the Forum and don't hesitate to ask questions.
Something totally different, as all people know, it's the World Cup now, and i just want to say : I DO NOT LIKE SOCCER, i don't care about the world cup, about the french team or whatever. So please, don't bother me with that. Xie xie ^^
The logo i made for the famous BonjourCANTON BBS ;)

19 March The best of GuangzhouGuangzhou doesn't have a very good reputation, that's why i always try to show something different. And what i like the most here (after my gf of course), it's the parks. They are huge, they are incredibly colorful and beautiful, they are quiet and clean, they are simply the best places to have a good time with your lover / friends / relatives. The local gov spends a lots every year to preserve the parks (don't forget that Guangzhou is also known as "the flowers city") and it's the reason why these parks are not free (never really expensive too anyway). Free entrances parks are never as beautiful as those where we need to pay. It's quite logic, we can see that everywhere in the world. To the people who are going to GZ for a business trip or just to visit, don't forget to visit some parks, they are a part of Guangzhou, the good image, they are something we can't see everywhere, it's also a part of the chinese culture that people forget too often, unfortunately. More pictures in my photo gallery : GZ PARKS 14 March Hiphop in GZSome pictures of a hiphop show (actually, a breakdance battle) i took last year, in one of the youngest place of Guangzhou (i mean, full of young people).
It was pretty good, and i was really surprised to see this kind of performance here in china. Finally, i can see that not all chinese people like boring love chinese songs and the underground scene (hiphop, rock) is probably much stronger than i thought, especially here in GZ. Can't wait to see more now
a short video of the event : http://blog.supadezign.com/tofs/hiphop.wmv
Peace out
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 15 February Valentine's DayA tiring and busy day i had for the Valentine's day. But what a great time ^^
I've just prepared a surprise romantic dinner for Winnie, in my apartment. It looks a bit like the Xmas we spend together in 2004.
A bottle of Champagne, some roses, candles, and good french food (foie gras) and her favorite : salmon.
I was really happy that she likes it, but what a tiring day, i went 2 times in the supermarket, clearned my home, cooked and decorated. But the result looks not bad i think
happy valentine's my beebeeee
(some pictures of the romantic dinner ^^ ) 29 January Lions DanceYesss...finally, i saw a really good Lions Dance. Last year i saw my first Lions show but it was only with 2 Lions, nice but not really impressive.
This year, not very far of my home, i had the great chance to see a much better show. 6 Lions, doing many impressive things, it was really good. ^^
enjoy these pics and as we say in my new homeland : Gung hei fat choy ^^

hoho :P 09 December DEZIGN POWAH14 November My f*cking life
Life: Your life rating is a score of the sum total of your life, and accounts for how satisfied, successful, balanced, capable, valuable, and happy you are. The quiz attempts to put a number on the summation of all of these things, based on your answers. Your life score leaves room for improvement. You can make changes to improve your trouble areas, and this will bring you greater satisfaction. Focus on your weakest points and set about to change them. Do not delay your happiness and success.
09 November Fashion in China ^^It seems that China is developing. Except the fashion, still the same as in the 70s
(the worst sofa ever) Pollution - the drug of the nationGuangzhou is damn too polluted, it's a fact, everybody knows that. Such as Shanghai and most of other big cities in China anyway.
I have never been to Beijing yet, but i am sure the lifestyle is more interesting than here in "boring guangzhou". But according the Pollution Index, Beijing is far more polluted than in Guangzhou or Shanghai. It's scare me, i already can't deal well with the air here, how could i do it if i was living in Beijing ? Anyway, a short trip to France will make me feel much better, i need fresh air and quiet places. (except it's not so quiet everywhere these days hehe)
( http://www.zhb.gov.cn/english/air-list.php3 ) 04 November IKEA rules the worldAfter Hong-Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, finally Guangzhou has his own IKEA :P
Yeah finally Cantonese people can buy not old-fashioned furnitures hoho
Nothing more to say, so here is a picture of lovely Yunyi in the best sofa of IKEA ;)
23 October CheeeeesesWhat is the best thing to eat with bread ?
FRENCH CHEESE of course ^^
By chance we can find some imported french cheeses here. Few choices and quite expensive but it's not bad already.
Now that i have good bread, good cheeses, i need to find a good wine :P
18 October Bread collectionIt's quite hard to find a good bread in China. But after some research (1year), finally i found some which are not so bad. But i had to forget the french typical "baguette". Impossible to find a good one here, at least in Guangzhou. Some in Shanghai were not bad but still far of the french standard.
Now my secret is to buy many breads, put them all in my freezers, and take out one bread several hours before eating. If i want to make a bread a little bit soft and crispy, i just need to put it on the toaster (not inside) and wait few minutes.
My great collection of the week :
07 October Lamma Island in HKWhat a great idea we had to go to visit Lamma island in Hong-Kong. It was absolutly great. Quiet and beautiful place, we enjoyed it much. A kind of small paradise near the noisy, polluted, overcrowded center of HK.
Here is a gallery : Lamma photos
I want to live there :P
05 October Rainbows in ChinaDuring the october holiday, we travelled arroung Guangzhou. We went to see some waterfalls, it was pretty nice, until we saw this wonderful scene :
2 rainbows at the bottom of a waterfall, so close to us, we could almost "touch" them.
